About Me

Anita7.jpg

Anita Robles has been called: “the most energetic, sexy Latin Jazz Singer to grace the stage” by saxophone player/keyboardist Larry Williams (Michael Jackson, Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones). Anita says: “I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most notable music figures and I studied they’re subtleties, their techniques, their joie de vivre. I was mimicking every Ella Fitzgerald riff from the time I was a child (Scatting is great when you don't speak the language well or you forget the lyrics..!)  I’ve paid my dues.”

Anita was attending Law School in Córdoba but abandoned that career to join Opera School at Teatro General San Martín. By 1991 her desire and determination for singing jazz afforded her with a Visa to immigrate to the U.S. where she studied vocal improvisation, percussion and guitar. While on contract in Brazil as a Singer, she studied Portuguese and percussion in Rio de Janeiro. From touring Latin America throughout the U.S., she has performed through the years in venues from L.A. to Miami such as: The Baked Potato, the Ford Amphitheatre, Café Cordiale, Café Largo, Genghis Cohen, the Key Club, Pips, Tobacco Road and in festivals such as Puerto Rico Festival de la Canción, L.A.Earth Day  and Fort Lauderdale Jazz Divas.

Professional songwriting began in 1995 with the self-released cd: “UCanDoIt”, combining Pop, Latin and Jazz genres in collaboration with the esteemed Vinka Band comprised of: Larry Williams, Aaron Serfaty, Rico Belled, Marcelo Caceres; Vinnie D’Onofrio and Dan Lutz. Publisher Maximo Aguirre signed her in 2002 with her extensive Spanish pop songs catalog and in 2004 (Anababe Music), Anita moved from Los Angeles to Miami on a lengthy contract, performing with her Latin Jazz Band at the Cardozo Hotel on Miami Beach and other venues owned by Estefan Enterprises.

Her Latin Jazz cd “LATINA SUAVE” is a magnificent mix of Bossa Nova, Jazz and Tango, with hints of fresh sophisticated pop colors.

In the last 10 years, after her return to California, Anita has done profound studies on the field of Music Therapy. With a degree in psychology from Cal State Northridge University, she integrates music and different ABA behavior modification techniques to improve the health of others. She is a consultant and volunteer at "Guitars in the Classroom" (Namm Foundation) and Christian Assembly Church. Her project The HEALING ABCs. (healingabcs.com)  includes spiritual and meditation material with inspirational sounds and songs based on the letters of the Alphabet.
